Net Zero and SBTi

Net zero goals validated by SBTi

We have committed to achieving zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. Our priority is minimising our direct emissions and permanently neutralising any remaining emissions. Our goals are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative and are in line with the Paris Agreement.

We have set interim goals for 2030 and are continuously developing our climate transition plan, which outlines concrete measures within purchasing, energy usage and business trips which work towards their achievement. Through yearly climate reports, internal monitoring and climate compensation, we ensure transparency and continual progress.

These are our promises

  • Overall Net-Zero Target: BDO AB commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by FY2050.
  • Near-Term Targets: BDO AB commits to maintain zero absolute scope 1 GHG emissions from FY2023 through FY2030. BDO AB also commits to reduce absolute scope 2 GHG emissions 42% within the same timeframe. BDO AB further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 51.6% per FTE within the same timeframe.

  • Long-Term Targets: BDO AB commits to maintain zero absolute scope 1 GHG emissions from FY2023 through FY2050. BDO AB also commits to reduce absolute scope 2 GHG emissions 90% within the same timeframe. BDO AB further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 97% per FTE within the same timeframe.

About Net Zero

The goal of net zero is to limit global warming by reducing climate impact and achieving a balance between greenhouse gas emissions and removals.

The validation of our goals by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) means they are science-based, aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), prioritise direct emissions reductions, and that any remaining emissions are permanently neutralised before the target is achieved.

Scope 1 and 2: Direct emissions from sources that we own or control, as well as indirect emissions from purchased energy.

Scope 3: Other indirect emissions, such as those from the purchase of goods and services, business travel, employee commuting, waste management, and more.
